At Loyola Maryount, it is a fundamental part of the University’s mission to emphasize international insights and to offer to students opportunities to gain study abroad experience. The School of Film & Television has always been an active proponent of this philosophy. For example, ‘The New Europe Program’, which has been successful ever since its first semester in 1992, has provided a major milestone in this direction. Developed in cooperation with the Academy of International Education (AIB), Bonn – Germany, the New Europe Program was established to combine American educational studies with a distinct European cultural experience.
Now, however, because of the New Europe Program’s increasing popularity enjoyed by students of various fields of study, and the growing awareness among film and television scholars toward a global understanding, the time has come for a more specialized academic program. Therefore, the newly created “European Film & TV Satellite Semester Program”, has been especially designed to combine LMU-SFTV curricular requirements with international production and business experience.
